Zombies on Kickstarter? What do you guys think?

Posted by Muja - March 2nd, 2017

Hello guys and girls!
I'd like to write my first "author post" ever here on Newgrounds, despite the fact that I've been making games on this site for about ten years - I know, shame on me.

This is actually a good occasion to see how many of my fans are still active and will read this post, but anyway. I'm digressing.

I've been thinking about making "Dead Detective" a full-lenght game (four self-contained cases, all tied together by a final, epic conclusion), maybe invest some bucks for a talented pixel artist to draw the backgrounds.

I'll still upload more content here - like another complete case that'll also work as a demo for the game itself.

What do you guys think? Would you actually support such a project (if you had any money, that is :D )? Do you foresee utter failure? Do you whish me luck? Do you actually have any experience/tips about Kickstarter that you'd want to share? Would you like a fresh, tasty brain?

Let's hear it!

I don't have much in the way of funds, but I really love Dead Detective and if you DID decide to make a full-length game I know I'd be one to support it!!!

Ahah rather than funds, I'm looking for encouragement right now.
In that sense I really appreciate your comment, thank you :D

I am broke, but honestly if you want to do it why not give it a shot?
Try planning it out a bit more and not just rush in like I do 80% of the time...
Good luck, if you decide to do so!

Planning it out is a GOOD advice, thank you! I'll try not to rush things..

Just for the record, I'm planning to fly veery low. A very reasonable goal, with pledges starting from 1 buck, and rewards going from your name in the credits to being an actual pixelated undead in zombie society.

Yeah, I think I'll give it a shot, thanks for replying!

I love zombie society, even if the only language available to play is English, it worths every minute you spend searching words in the dictionary if you don't know english, i want you to know that you've got the support from people who doesn't speak your language too (but i think they don't know how to express it), so cheer up, you'll do a good job for sure (i apologise for my bad english).

Thank you A LOT for your support, I'm so glad you liked my game that much!
I'm actually doing a kickstarter, but I'm preparing for it with patience.
In the meanwhile, you can look at the official trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2Ykzzx_Z0c

And let me tell you this: one of the reasons I'm going to kickstarter is to find the money to translate the game in German, Spanish and French, at least.

Hopefully you'll be able to play the full game in your own language! :)
(Your english is very good from what I've seen here, by the way)

I'd contribute, ever thought about making it a mobile game?

Making a version of these games for mobile is on my to-do list, but it's a long term project. For now I'm focusing on making content for the web and for Steam :)

Seems like you have a really solid cast of characters here, not to mention a wealth of ideas, so I'd suggest going as far as possible with them. Since any money I make is already spoken for due to college loans and other expenses, I may not be able to contribute financially, but I can always afford to give encouragement.

Best of luck to you and your game series!

Thank you a lot for your nice words and your encouragement!

I like all your games. I like non-linear adventure/detective games in general. The fact that you have your own unique fictional universe makes yours even better.

I would definitely pay for a game that is as good as Zombie Detective. I don't have a habit of supporting unfinished projects, but I would defiantly buy the finished game if it is indeed significantly longer then a free game (4 or 5 times longer as you said, sounds about right)

Some guy asked about a mobile game - well would defiantly ignore it if it were a mobile game. I like proper immersive fullscreen PC games with animated cursors.

Thank you a lot for your nice comment, I can confirm the Steam game will be much longer than one of the episodes I've published here for free - it'll contain four never before seen cases, and each one of them will be significantly longer than a free episode, too!

I hope you'll have fun!

i Flipped out when I heard about a steam release. This is one of my favorite point n click/mystery series EVER. Thank you for all the hard work :D

Thank you so much for your support!!!

i love choose your adventure story on newgrounds

Thanks!

Your Dead Detective games are great! I didn't know about them until recently. I'm not usually a fan of zombie games, but I like Point-and-Clicks (especially detective style ones), so when I saw your newest one in the recent games (not even realizing it was a series) I decided to try it. I was not disappointed. Then I saw that you had more of them -- I've now played all of them (though not exactly in the order they were intended) and liked them all.

Thank you, I'm very glad you liked my games!
Hopefully you'll like the Steam release, too! :)

please do this i will pay money for the game your so talented
